Details
This deck, though not large, allows for an array of uses. Its geometric shape adds interest in a relatively small space--654 square feet. It also permits traffic to flow to and from the kitchen--making it convenient to wander to a deck-side table with a meal or a snack.
The plan provides for a table and chairs to be tucked into the corner, just outside the breakfast-room entrance. A short wall (or optional handrail) here maintains privacy and protection.
Continuous-level steps around the perimeter allow for complete access to the ground level. This kind of tiered-step design can be modified--extending the steps so the deck has several levels. Here, the two levels function as steps and can also double as seating for casual parties.
Convenient access from the covered porch on two sides means added enjoyment of the deck from all areas.
